Here, you will find the finished proposal that we sent to Cory Jensen. This is how we established expectations and deadlines between ourselves and the Ben Lomond Music Department.

Subject: Proposal

Introduction
Through our communication with you, we have learned just how valuable the Ben Lomond Music Department is to the community. The unique emphasis that you place on Scottish and Celtic music is particularly important to keeping those traditions alive. We love the fact that any student may learn to play the bagpipes or Scottish drums without prior musical knowledge, and that these new students are able to compete and do well in musical festivals. Over the course of the semester, we will happily contribute writings to the music department at Ben Lomond High School. This will give us a chance to gain experience in writing for a professional world, help you to raise awareness of the music department, and to help you secure some grants in order to maintain and purchase supplies.

Background
We have learned that, unfortunately, the music program at Ben Lomond High School has not received any funding from the school for several years now. This means that there is a need to put on concerts, look for grants, and ask for donations in order to maintain instruments and equipment. Each of these potential options require some form of writing and a substantial time commitment. The Ben Lomond Music programs rely on these grants and concerts in order to continue functioning.

Description
We propose to create a set of professional documents to help the music department. The first of these documents is a flyer, which will advertise the upcoming concert in March. In addition, we will create a concert program for this event, which will inform the attendees of the schedule and music that will be played. Additionally, we also plan to include the contact information for the bagpipe band in the program should any member of the audience desire to hire their services or learn more.  Lastly, we will write two to three grant papers. These grant papers will detail the needs of the music program and request funding in order to maintain its equipment.

Methods
Our group will meet at least once a week outside of classes to work on the various documents.  Generally speaking, we will create a draft over the course of a week by using a shared Google Drive, gathering research as needed. Then, we will meet and revise our draft in an environment where we can easily communicate ideas for changes. More specifically, for the flyer and concert program, we will be using art provided by you, arranging it with text so that it grabs the attention of passersby and provides information about the concert. From this process we will produce a final revision which we will send for printing or, in the case of grants, final comments before submitting it to the grant committee. In order to write competitive grant proposals, we will research examples of effective proposals. We also plan on utilizing on-campus writing resources such as the writing center to get feedback and advice on how to write grant proposals.

Qualifications
As you know, Chris is an alumni of the Ben Lomond Music program and is able to provide the group with insight about the band. Additionally, each of the team members can contribute significantly to this project. We are capable of effective communication which will help us to complete each project efficiently. Each member of our team has excellent organizational skills and extensive experience in doing research. Our college experience has taught us how to deliver a professional product in a timely manner and to receive and incorporate feedback. Each team member will demonstrate his writing abilities by producing professional quality grant proposals and an attractive, easy to read flyer and concert program.

Budget
For this project we will not need to print large quantities of items.  At most, we will need to print and mail the grant proposals.  Everything we create will also be submitted via email so that you will have a digital copy of all our work. If needed, we will drive out to Ogden to meet with you and discuss revisions. Our goal is to create documents for the music department to use, and to thereby free up your time to focus on other tasks. Therefore, our budget will be minimal with no more than a few dollars for postage and envelopes and the price of gas to and from the Ogden area. We have agreed to spend up to $20 dollars to cover these expenses.

Conclusion
We are excited to help you get funding and to raise awareness about this remarkable music program. This program is a benefit to the community and we would like it to continue to have a positive impact. In a time of such economic struggles, it is easy to overlook the need for such a program and we are committed to help you seek out the support of the community to keep it alive. The Scottish traditions that accompany this music inspire all who hear it. Our finished products will ensure that these traditions do not fade away.
